The birth of a baby is a happy occasion and
many parents want to give thanks to God and mark the event in some
way. At one time it was routine to have the baby baptised (christened)
and this is still the option for those parents who are able to make
the solemn promises associated with infant baptism.
For those who wish to leave the choice about
baptism until the child is old enough to decide for him/herself, we
offer a service of Thanksgiving, Dedication and Blessing. Like baptism
this usually takes place at the beginning of a Sunday service.
Whatever type of service is chosen, it will
be made meaningful and personal for the family concerned. The church
family are mindful of our Lord's words,
"Whoever welcomes one such child in
my name, welcomes me."
Mark Ch 9 verse 37
The names of all the baptised/dedicated children
are entered on a "cradle roll" which is displayed in the
church. For at least the first five years a birthday card is sent
to each child.
