APRIL 2006 MUSING
ALLELUIA!
Thank God for Spring even though it
may be a bit late this year. It has been a long cold winter, but as
each day passes there is the consolation that warmer, longer days
lie ahead. With Spring comes the greatest of all Christian festivals,
Easter. Bud, bulb and seed break out of their winter prison and proclaim
new life. This is a festival which brings hope and comfort from the
knowledge that there is life beyond the grave.
Sooner or later we all experience
the pain of loss, a pain that sometimes seems too hard to bear. It
is often my sad duty as a minister to lead the service which is your
last act of love for a dear one. It is something I could not do if
I did not believe sincerely our Lord’s words that He has gone
to prepare a place for us. His resurrection on that first Easter day
is a glorious proclamation that there is life beyond our imagining
just over the horizon we call death.
Remember some of His last words to
us; ‘because I live, you too will live’.
As you recall the events of that first
Easter may you experience something of the resurrection joy that the
disciples felt when they realised that the cross was not the end.
With them we can confidently affirm ‘Christ is Risen! He is
Risen indeed!’
May Easter comfort, hope, joy and
peace be yours.
God bless you all.
