HARVEST

Due to your generosity we were able to send several boxes full of goods to the Ukraine as well as £150 towards transport. We sent £142 to Feed the Children which is also our Harvest Charity. Thank you to Margaret Jones for co-ordinating this.
Thanks to all who contributed food towards the Harvest Lunch, to those who joined us for the meal and who bought goods at the auction. We would not have raised the money without you all.

Father Christmas opens our sale on 28th November, 2009 at 2.30 p.m. Please bring items to sell as soon as possible. Stalls include: Cake stall, White Elephant, As New, Christmas decorations and gifts, Bottle Stall, Toys, Books, a raffle, etc. etc………………….

We continue to pray for a Minister to lead our fellowship. We are ever grateful to Dora for leading our Family Communion Services. She has also agreed to lead the Act of Remembrance on 8th November – there could be no-one better. One of our veterans from the village, Alec Hinton, passed away after a long illness and Dora took his funeral service at Westerleigh. In October several of our Church members were saddened by bereavement and we pray for them and their families.

Since Dora ‘retired’ Megan has held the Chapel flag at two school assemblies – one subject was based on the children’s hymn ‘He Made Me’ and the other – ‘the Good Samaritan’. We are grateful for Megan’s input at these assemblies and you will see that she has written the letter in the front page of the magazine on our behalf entitled ‘Lest we forget’.

Our Christingle Family Spot on 15th November is one of the most popular services of the year. Attendance at Family Spot Services has been disappointing so please if you see any of the families who used to come – remind them about Christingle.

More dates for your diary: 19th/20th December at 6.30 p.m. Christmas Nativity by Tabernacle Dancers is entitled Christmas around the World – we shall transport you to countries such as Hawaii, Spain, Africa, USA, India and China – all celebrating the birth of Jesus. It will end with the very tiny children in a nativity tableau.

Dora has kindly offered to arrange the Christmas Eve Service which is always enjoyed by all who come. We hope to have our usual soloists and readers. Unfortunately there will not be a service on Christmas Day. We have decided that this year we would join our friends at the Parish Church for their Christmas Day Service.
