Wick Tabernacle United
Reformed Church is situated on the A420 Bristol to Chippenham road in
the heart of the village of Wick, South Gloucestershire. It is known locally
as "The Chapel". The church was opened in 1837, the year Queen
Victoria came to the throne, and was a Congregational church until 1972,
when in common with most Congregational churches it united with the English
Presbyterian Church to become a United Reformed Church.

The building is compact
but also provides a large schoolroom with a stage, a well equipped kitchen
and toilet facilities. The rear of the church is bounded by a well kept
garden with magnificent views over the fields to Lansdown.
Careful thought has been
given to the needs of the disabled. The entrance to the sanctuary and
the schoolroom is completely level, affording easy access for wheelchairs.
There is an electric stairlift providing easy access to the kitchen, toilets
and garden. There is an excellent public address system with a hearing
loop and large print hymn books are available for the visually impaired.
We welcome all who choose to come through our doors but it is not only
the building that is welcoming. Inside you will find a friendly, caring,
Christ centred community. |
